Rodney Ray Schwitzer, 69, of Tipton, passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, at the funeral home. Burial and graveside service will be at Tipton Masonic Cemetery.
A memorial fund in Rodney's honor has been established.

Rodney's life journey began Oct. 31, 1946, in Iowa City, Iowa, where he was born to Ray and Duetta (Drager) Schwitzer. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1965 and from Truman State University (formerly Northeast Missouri State) in 1969. Rodney served our country in the Army National Guard for six years. He was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Weaver in April 1973. He started out farming before working for Buesing's Automotive in Davenport and Buesing's Iowa Generator in Cedar Rapids. He then became owner/ operator of Buesing's Automotive and Buesing's Iowa Generator and several NAPA auto parts stores.
Rodney is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara; four sons, Matthew Schwitzer and children, Alex and Milena of Green Bay, Wis., Aaron and Alecia Schwitzer and their children, Dawsyn and Landon of Keller, Texas, Kevan Schwitzer of Oshkosh, Wis., and Johnathan Schwitzer of Fort Worth, Texas; his mother, Duetta Schwitzer of Tipton; and former daughter-in-law, Jennifer Schwitzer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Schwitzer; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lillian and Bill Weaver; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Broyles.
