Roddy, Joseph Anthony

Joseph Anthony Roddy, 51, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at his home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Craig A. Bex, at the Edgewood Family Fellowship Church, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cedar Rapids. Burial at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include companion, Denise Yates of Cedar Rapids; father, Ron Roddy of Davenport; children, Stephanie (Justin) Vasey of Marion, and Sean Roddy (Amy Gillespie) of Glendale, Ariz.; and siblings, Patrick (Diane) Roddy of Woodridge, Ill., Julia (Juan) Rangel of Davenport and Angela Roddy (Tim) of Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carlotta Roddy.

Joseph was born Nov. 28, 1960, son of Ronald and Carlotta (Behal) Roddy. He graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1979. He worked as a driver at Aramark for 20 years, and was working at Walmart. Joseph had a passion for music and was accomplished at several instruments, especially the violin. He was a very social person, and liked by all, he also had a great sense of humor. Joseph enjoyed bowling, cooking, sports and his dogs. He especially liked watching the Cubs, Hawkeye's and Cowboys. Joseph's greatest joy was spending time with his family.
