ROD PETERSEN
Anamosa
On Feb. 2, 2014, Rod
Petersen, 54, of Anamosa, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones in his home after a courageous battle with
cancer.
Rod was born March 2, 1959. Rod spent his childhood and younger years in Martelle, Iowa. On Oct. 10, 1998, Rod married the love of his life and his best friend, Tammy Lynn (Dahms) Petersen in a local Martelle park. In recent years, the two purchased a house and made it into a loving home with their
beloved cat, Baby in Anamosa.
Rod was a man of family and friends. When Rod was not working at Procter and Gamble in Iowa City, he spent his hard earned free time fishing and hunting. Any extra time Rod had you could find him hanging out with his wife and friends at area parks, rivers and streams. This is what he wished to be his most important legacy. To both family and friends, he committed a selfless and intense loyalty, especially to his loving and caring wife, Tammy, who never left his side for a single moment throughout his battle with cancer. He was also loving and loyal to all of his many friends who touched him and were touched by Rod.
Rod is survived by his wife, Tammy; her son, Travis (Lea-Anne) Sams; and was a loving grandfather to Travis, Chayse and Chelsea Sams.
He was also survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Petersen; three sisters, Karen (Darwin) Koutny, Teresa (Brent) Haddad and Renee (Lindsay) Martin; and several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal granparents, Elmer and Esther Streeper.
Tammy would like to openly invite all of Rod's friends and family to a casual Celebration of Life to be held at 1 p.m. Feb. 15, 2014, at Wapsipinicon
Country Club, 21309
County Road E34, Anamosa.
