Rocarek, Edith L.
Edith L. Rocarek, 88, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at Mercy Hospice-Johnston. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, where visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. Cedar Memorial Certified Celebrant Julie Freese will officiate. Burial: Czech National Cemetery.
Survivors include her brother, Kenneth W. Johnson of Des Moines, formerly of Cedar Rapids; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Rocarek; her parents; a brother, Bernard Johnson; and four sisters, Selma Mann, Maxine Whitney, Iona Vecchi and Marian OIver.
Edith was born June 8, 1924, in Linn County, Iowa, the daughter of Vere and Edna Kilts Johnson. She married Charles L. Rocarek on Sept. 7, 1941, in Cedar Rapids. Edith was a graduate of Franklin High School. She worked for Quaker Oats Co. in Cedar Rapids, retiring after 39 years of service. She was a member of the Moose Club and Local P-3 Retirees Inc. and was a champion bowler for many years.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
