She grew up on the family farm and following the death of her father she moved to Des Moines with her mother and sister. She returned to Grinnell following the death of her mother and resided with her sister and brother-in-law, Lyle and Saundra Muckler. Later, she moved to Cedar Rapids and lived with her younger sister and brother-in-law, Lynda and Fay Jackman.
She was a member of the Noelridge Christian Church and the New Beginnings Christian Church. She enjoyed attending the Milestones Daycare Center in both Cedar Rapids and Marion. Jackie loved socializing with family and friends and she possessed an infectious laugh. She had fun debating politics with her brother-in-law, Fay. Jackie loved music and could remember the words to every song she ever heard, especially the hymns.
