Robertson, Betty Lou
Betty Lou Robertson, 83, of 4635 Westchester Dr. NE, Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at Asbury United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dr. Willy Mafuta. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
Survivors include her husband, John; children, Ria (Mohsen) Ghorbati of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Leanne (Steve) Gross of Forest Knolls, Calif., and Merritt (Elizabeth) Robertson of Central City; grandchildren, John Ghorbati, Araizu Ghorbati and Kaveh Ghorbati; and her sister, Raimondi Ann (Gary) Kramer of Fairfax.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents.
Born March 30, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Betty was the daughter of Gilbert and Sibyl (McGuire) Martin. On May 6, 1951, she was united in marriage to John Robertson.
Betty was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing golf at Elmcrest Country Club. She was an active member of its Card Club that was established in 1954, and she loved word puzzles. She also had many of her own puzzles published in Penny Press. Betty enjoyed traveling and she and John took many trips, including to Ireland, the Cayman Islands and a two-week trip to Wyoming in the MG with the top down the entire trip.
