Roberts, Norma Rosa

Norma Rosa Roberts, 75, of Rockford, Ill., died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at Lowe Park Meeting Room, 4500 North 10th St., Marion, Iowa. Celebration of Life: 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, at Christ United Methodist Church - Our Master's Center, 5973 Darlene Dr., Rockford, Ill. Additional services will be held in Miami, Fla., at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, Iowa (319) 377-1553.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Charles; two children, Monica (Kent) Hunter of Marion and Greg (Kirstie) Roberts of Columbia, S.C.; five grandchildren, Heather, Mitchell, Garrett, Aaron and Taylor; a great-grandson, Ethan; and two siblings, Maria (Carlos) Bono of Weston, Fla., and Chago (Carmella) Rodriguez of Kendall, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Marcos and Rodrigo “Bobby” Rodriguez.

Norma was born Jan. 30, 1936, in Manzanillo, Cuba, the daughter of Rodrigo and Maria (Fernandez) Rodriguez. She received her bachelor's degree in education from Manzanillo Teachers College. On Nov. 19, 1966, Norma was united in marriage to Charles H. Roberts in Evanston, Ill. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
