Roberta E. Warner, 89, of Oelwein, Iowa, died Tuesday morning, May 24, 2016, at Unity Point-Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa.
Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 28, at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein with the Rev. Patricia Shaw officiating.
Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, and for one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein.
A memorial fund has been established for Zion Lutheran Church and the Oelwein Public Library.

Roberta Eileen Vierow was born on July 14, 1926, at rural Dundee, Iowa, the daughter of Carl Henry and Marvelle Mae (Sturm) Vierow. She graduated from Lamont High School at Lamont, Iowa, in 1943. Roberta was united in marriage to Fay Wendell Warner on June 28, 1947, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fayette, Iowa. Roberta earned her B.A. degree in 1963 from Iowa Wesleyan College at Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and received her master's degree in library science from the University of Iowa at Iowa City, Iowa, in 1970. She was a schoolteacher and later a librarian in country schools and at Washington, Iowa, for 39 years.
Roberta was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, WELCA and a member of the Quilters Group at Zion Lutheran Church. She also was a charter member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Washington, Iowa, a life member of the University of Iowa Alumni Association, a life member of the National Education Association and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary 2440 at Independence, Iowa.
Roberta is survived by her son, R. Craig (Patricia) Warner of Reno, Nev.; three grandchildren, Brittany Warner, Ryan (Alexis) Warner and Cynicia Warner, all of Reno, Nev.; two great-granddaughters, Jaelynn Warner and Cianna Warner-Hill; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Darien, Isaiah and Adrian; two brothers, Earl (Madalyn) Vierow of Waverly and Clifford (Janice) Vierow of Oelwein; sister-in-law, Bernadine Granneman of Oelwein; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fay W. Warner, on Dec. 8, 1995; sister, Louisa Herman; and a brother, Harold Vierow.
