Roberta Edith Comstock, 97, recently of Hiawatha, Iowa, formerly of Montrose, Iowa, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at Higley Mansion Care Center, Cedar Rapids. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Roberta's life will be from 1
to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, at Forest Green Condos, 250 Cimarron Dr., unit 305, in Hiawatha. A private family committal service will take place in the spring of 2018 at Galland Cemetery in Sandusky, Iowa.
Roberta was born Sept. 8, 1920, in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Alice (Noonan) Orth. She graduated in the class of 1938 from Montrose High School. Roberta was united in marriage to Carl Edward Comstock in 1938. She worked for the Montrose Post Office for many years as a clerk. Roberta was a member of Montrose United Methodist Church and was an avid reader of the Montrose Journal.
Roberta is survived by her son, Kim (Teri) Comstock of Estes Park, Colo.; her daughter, Karen Haines of Marion; three grandchildren, Brian (Michele) Haines, Erin (Zack) Taylor and Megan (Steve) Meisinger; four great-grandchildren, Connor Haines, Kaitlyn Haines, Jason Taylor and Ryan Taylor; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl Comstock, in 1987; son-in-law, Don Haines; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
