Roberta "Bert" Marie Cameron, 77, of Alburnett, died peacefully Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at her home. Funeral services: 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, by the Rev. Jon C. Moss. The family will greet friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, at the funeral home in Marion. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Lonny Cameron of Alburnett, Rhonda (Tim) Lange of Alburnett and Rita (Dave) Schuchmann of Toddville; five grand-children, Kristina Lange (Troy Hanson), Dustin Lange, Christian Cameron, Madelyn Schuchmann and Alexandra Schuchmann; brothers, James (Patricia) Seevell of Vinton and Gaylin (Vicki) Seevell of Alburnett; brother-in-law, Keith (Martha) Cameron of Lilburn, Ga.; sister-in-law, Betty (Doug) Coleman of Lake Ozark, Mo.; and many friends, including her lifelong friend and confidant, Hilda Martin of Alburnett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Robert Seevell.
Bert was born Sept. 9, 1937, in Iowa City, daughter of Alton and Lela (Pritchard) Seevell. She graduated from Alburnett Community School with the class of 1955. Bert married Lyle Cameron on April 28, 1956, at Olivet Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of the Alburnett United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women's Group, Two Rivers Sam Camping Club, Tuesday Ceramic Ladies, Evening Book Club, and a former member of the Alburnett Historical Society.
Bert enjoyed sewing, reading, ceramics, baking, camping, travel, musicals/theater and card club. Her greatest joy was attending her grand-children's activities, including concerts, recitals, livestock shows, and various sporting events.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Hall-Perrine Cancer Center for their love and care during Bert's journey with leukemia and Hospice of Mercy for helping her carry out her final wish to pass away in her own home.
