Robert Valley, 91, of Brandon, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, at ABCM Rehab Center in Independence surrounded by his loving family. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at the Chapel of Memories Stateroom. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. A graveside committal will immediately follow services where military honors will be accorded.
Robert was born July 9, 1925, the son of Otto and Clarice (Severns) Valley. Robert served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion as well as the VFW. He was a member of the Cement Finishers Union for more than 50 years. On May 14, 1946, Robert was united in marriage with Wanda Lloyd. They shared 68 years together until her passing in 2015. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and enjoyed square dancing with Wanda.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Wanda.
Left to cherish Robert's memories are his children, Douglas (Deanna) Valley of Stillwater, Okla., Gregory Valley of Jasper, Ga., and Thomas (Julie) Valley of Brandon; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who were close to him.
A memorial fund has been established.
