Robert William Sutton, born in St. Charles, Mo., to Hadley and Mae Sutton, died Dec. 22, 2014, in Mission, Texas, after a long illness.
Bob married Ila Haynie on June 15, 1952, in Platte
City, Mo. Bob was raised by his grandparents, Ernie and Tyne Zach, in Percival, Iowa. He graduated from Percival High School and enlisted in the Air Force, serving from 1950 to 1954. He went to Peru College in Peru, Neb., then to the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. He worked at Collins Radio (later named Rockwell Collins) in Cedar Rapids for 30 years. They moved to a farm in Olin, Iowa, in 1973 and farmed there until 2012, when they moved to Mission.
Bob is survived by his wife; a daughter, Dr. Mary Sutton of Bishop, Ga.; a son, Robert Jr. (Theresa) of New Bern, N.C.; two grandsons, Michael (Jenni) of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mitchell (Amanda) of Marion; a grand-daughter, Rebecca Cox of Georgia; a great-grandson, Jack of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Suzanne Simmons (Don) of Thurman, Iowa; three brothers-in-law, Dick, Jim and Bill Haynie; nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, a brother, Jim; two infant grandchildren and his in-laws, Richard and Mary Haynie.
Burial will be held at a later date in Sidney, Iowa. Local services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home of Mission, Texas.
