Bob was born Dec. 12, 1934, in Iowa City, the son of Francis and Katherine Striegel Sueppel. Bob attended and graduated from St. Mary's in Iowa City. While attending St. Mary's, "Bobbie" Sueppel was known for his way around the basketball court. He was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and attended Mass every day. In his younger years, Bob loved to play softball and bowled on a La Casa team. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren compete in various sporting events, attending Hawkeye football games and watching the fighting Irish. Bob and Mercy enjoyed spending time with their family and friends up north at their cabin.
