Robert "Bob" C. Skalsky,
87, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully at his home, Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, following a long illness. Per Bob's wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores, of 68 years; children, Chris (Mary) Skalsky of Rio Rancho, N.M., Steven R. (Liz) Skalsky of Cedar Rapids, Susan (Andrew) Wille of Cedar Rapids and Laura Skalsky (Kyle) Lundberg of Cedar Rapids; four granddaughters, Karen and Rebecca Skalsky and Leslie and Claire Wille; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Margaret Skalsky; and his brother, Donald J. Skalsky.
Robert Charles Skalsky was born Nov. 7, 1928, the son of Joseph and Margaret (Bruna) Skalsky. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1946. Following high school he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served proudly from 1946 to 1947. Bob attended Coe College. He married Dolores Antles on Sept. 4, 1948, in Center Point. Bob started working as a printer for the Cedar Rapids Gazette before he put himself through night school to become a stockbroker. He began his brokerage career with Lamson Bros. and retired from A.G. Edwards. Bob was a member of an investment club, the Elks Club and a poker club.
Bob was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed fishing, dancing, gardening, cooking, traveling and playing cards.
