ROBERT A. SEBASTIAN
Cedar Rapids
Robert A. Sebastian, 92, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully with family and wonderful staff near him on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016, at Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids, where the family will receive relatives and friends at a visitation one hour before the service.
Robert was born the baby of the family on Jan. 6, 1924, in Prairie du Chien, Wis., to Leonard and Violet Rau Sebastian. He served in the Army in 1943 during World War II before being honorably discharged in 1946.
On June 3, 1945, Bob married his bride, Patricia, in Alexandria, La. They were blessed with four children and made their home in Cedar Rapids, where he worked as a salesman, retiring from Sara Lee Foods after many years.
Bob enjoyed socializing, singing (don't you know?), gardening and telling stories, but most of all, he really had a passion for cooking and baking with his sweet wife.
He will always be loved by his children, Ed (Marilyn) Sebastian of Fairfax and Mike (Pam) Sebastian of Cumming, Ga.; grandchildren, Tammy, Tim, Lori and Rob; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, in 2013; his parents; siblings, Lorraine and Fay; and his children, Nancy Sue and Timmy Jo.
Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids following the service, with a celebration of life luncheon back at Cedar Memorial Family Center immediately afterward.
Memorials may be directed to the Anna Purna Ghosh Foundation or the Blesie Tree Foundation through Cedar Memorial or the family.
