Robert L. Schuman, 76, of rural Quasqueton, died Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at his home.
Robert was born Nov. 23, 1939, the son of Levi and Florence (Tulk) Schuman. He grew up on the family farm in rural Quasqueton. He graduated from Quasqueton High School in 1957 and went on to earn a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Iowa State University in 1961. While at Iowa State, Robert was an active fraternity and Mensa society member.
He put his mind to work for many years for several companies, which included McDonnell Douglas Aerospace Co., Westinghouse Electric Co. and Singer Aerospace Co. Each company selected him for a number of advanced training programs in the electronics and aerospace fields.
He later retired to his family's farm in Quasqueton. Robert had many interests and hobbies: photography, astronomy, reading, studying the Bible and fiction movies.
He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Clista and Keith Wade of Highlands Ranch, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Florence Schuman.
A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 25, at Union Church in Quasqueton, with the Rev. Kevin Jennings presiding. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. until services on Monday.
