ROBERT "JIM" JAMES SCHOOLEY

Robert "Jim" James Schooley, 72, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, at home surrounded by his family. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Jim was born July 11, 1944, the son of Robert and Lessie (McPike) Schooley in Grinnell, Iowa. On July 20, 1962, he was married to Ann Elizabeth Ainsworth. Jim retired as an engineering inspector for the city of Walnut Creek, Calif. In his earlier years, he coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball, and also was involved in Cub Scouts and Webelos. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan and enjoyed the outdoors. More than anything, Jim loved his family and spending time with them.
Survivors include his wife, Ann, of 54 years, of Cedar Rapids; three children, Debbie (David) VonStein of Cedar Rapids, Robert John (Teresa) Schooley of Chico, Calif., and Rick (Suzie) Schooley of Pendleton, Ore. seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Larry Schooley of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Raoul Schooley.
