Robert "Bob" C. Pattison, 85, of Coralville, died Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Windmill Manor, Coralville. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Pattison; children, David (Ann) Pattison of Cedar Rapids and Cheryl (Stan) Pattison Ridgeway of Iowa City; grandchildren, William (Irina) Pattison of Morristown, N.J., Emily (Shane Paustian) Pattison of Cedar Rapids, Brian (Ashtin Bryde) Pattison of Kansas City, Kan., Michael Pattison of Storm Lake and Nicole (Eric) Ridgeway Pershing of Liberty, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Leah and Ashlynn Pershing of Liberty, Mo.; and sisters, Donna (Dick) Wallarab of Coralville and Helen Hammond of St. Peters, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dale Abbey of Santa Clara, Calif., and Richard "Dick" Pattison of Monona.
Bob was born March 7, 1931, in Fairfield, Iowa, son of Paul and Pearl Pattison. He graduated from Fairfield High School and received his degree from Simpson College and Garrett Theological Seminary. He married Barbara Pattison in Wellman in 1953.
Bob was a lifelong seeker of truth, first through philosophy and religion, and later in life through science, in particular the wonders of the universe. While serving as a Methodist minister in the 1960s, he worked hard for civil rights and racial equality, touching many lives along the way.
Bob enjoyed varied interests in life, including fishing, golfing and a good laugh.
He loved his family deeply and was loved by them in return. He will be missed.
