Robert "Bob" C. Newlin, 63, died Sept. 30, 2014, at his home in Center Point. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at the funeral home.
Surviving are his wife, Shari; his mother, Ferne; four children, Corey (Jennifer) Ritter of Anamosa, J. Newlin of Cedar Rapids, Alexis Newlin of Center Point and Jessica Boyles of Center Point; six grandchildren, Grace, Austyn, Cory, Gage, Lily and Kylannah (Sid); two sisters, Connie (Tom Johnson) Newlin of Littleton, Colo., and Tami (Joe Wildeman) Newlin of Arvada, Colo.; and nephews, John, Mike and Justin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Newlin.
Bob was born June 2, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Robert and Ferne McNiel Newlin. He was a 1969 graduate of Marion High School. Bob managed and operated many bowling centers through the years. He enjoyed working for the Kernels part time.
On March 29, 1997, Bob and Shari (Wiggins) were united in marriage in Nashua, Iowa, at the Little Brown Church.
Bob was an avid T-shirt collector and Cubs and Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed bowling, pool, golf (He especially enjoyed watching Zach Johnson play.) and spending time with his family.
Bob was a loving son, husband, father, grand-father, brother and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to him.
