Robert E. Naaktgeboren, 79, of Shellsburg, went to be with his golfing buddies Saturday, May 3, 2014. Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Mike Ferguson. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 5, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ruth; his children, Becky (Jim) Harris, Robert (Susan) Naaktgeboren, Russ (Janet) Naaktgeboren and Roxe (Lynn) Gingrich; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his siblings, Betty Panek, Don (Debbie) Naaktgeboren and Dennis Naaktgeboren; and all of his special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Nic Harris; and brother, Jr. Naaktgeboren.
Robert was born Jan. 30, 1935, the son of C.J. and Clara (Goemaat) Naaktgeboren, in Pella, Iowa. On Jan. 2, 1955, he was united in marriage to Ruth Ann VanVleck in Cedar Rapids. Robert owned and operated Northpoint Shell and Midtown Auto Parts, both in Cedar Rapids, and Mule Lake Store in Longville, Minn.
Robert was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Shellsburg. He enjoyed golfing and fishing.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Mercy or Shellsburg Volunteer Fire Department in memory of Robert.
