Robert "Bob" M. Mitchell, 70, passed away Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, at Winslow House in Marion. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, at the funeral home conducted by Vicki Standley. Burial will be in Springville Cemetery, with military honors provided by Marion American Legion Post 298.
Robert is survived by his children, Rob Mitchell of Marion and Teresa (Quinn Nissen) Mitchell of Cedar Rapids; one grandchild on the way; and his siblings, Bill (Charity) Mitchell of Springville and Kay (Ken) Stanford of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Karen Saari.
Robert was born Aug. 28, 1945, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Maurice and Zereta (Port) Mitchell. Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He married Shirley Smith and they later divorced.
Bob was a longtime tractor parts salesman and most recently was parts manager for Iowa Implement.
He was a member of Marion First United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 298 in Marion.
