Robert W. Mischek, 82, died May 10, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, from injuries sustained in a fire at his northeast Cedar Rapids apartment on May 5.
Robert was born in Iowa and adopted by Hans and Margaret (Stanek) Mischek as a baby. He was the oldest of siblings, Patricia, David and Linda. Bob and first wife Shirley were married in Cedar Rapids. They were later divorced. Three daughters, Janet, Sharon and Kathy, were born from this union. Bob later married Rosemary, adopted her young son, Chris, and they relocated to Colorado Springs, home of her three older children. Rosemary died in 1989. Bob later rekindled a friendship with a lovely lady named Ruth who moved to Colorado Springs and became his partner until her death in 1998. Bob moved back to Cedar Rapids and Ruth's son, Rich, assisted him and was with him after the fire that hospitalized and took his life.
Robert is survived by daughters, Sharon and Kathy; son, Chris; stepson, Rich; stepchildren, grand- and step-grandchildren; and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Janet; wife, Rosemary; partner, Ruth; and brother, David.
