Monticello
Robert McVay, 58, died Friday, April 11, 2014, at his home following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 14, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where friends may call from 3 until 6 p.m.
Sunday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cascade. Father Paul Baldwin will officiate at the service.

Robert is survived by two brothers, Steve (Judy) McVay, Center Point, and Jim McVay, Chandler, Ariz.; and two nephews, Nicholas and Justin McVay of Center Point.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Robert William McVay was born July 14, 1955, at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa, the son of Wilfred (Bill) and Betty Men-seter McVay. Robert graduated from Monticello Community Schools. He continued his education at the University of Northern Iowa.
Robert spent most of his working life in building construction. He was a carpenter in Arizona for many years and when he returned to Monticello he worked with David Schoon.
Robert loved sports, watching his Red Sox and Packers. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
