Robert "Bud" W. Mayfield, 93, of Oxford Junction, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Clarence Nursing Home.
His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 27, at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction. A visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Canton Cemetery.
Robert Wendell Mayfield was born June 16, 1923, in Onslow, Iowa, to Al and Lana (Billman) Mayfield. He graduated from Olin High School. Bud was self-employed and used his bulldozer and construction skills to help many people over the years. He enjoyed going fishing and mushroom hunting. In his earlier years, he would go dancing every Saturday night.
Those left to cherish his memories are his longtime partner of 39 years, Josie Behne; two children, Shirley Stuttsman of North Liberty and Jimmy (Jean) Mayfield of Toronto; several grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy (Edward) Kromminga of Hollister, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Al and Billy; four sisters, Reva, Peggy, Lois and Minnie; and a son, Johnny.
Memorials may be directed to Clarence Nursing Home in his honor.
