Robert "Bob" George Lary, 80, of Muscatine, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Lutheran Homes. Celebration of Life service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 17, at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home in
Muscatine. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 19, at Oakhill Cemetery in Central City, with a reception to follow. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday, May 16, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of donor's choice. Bob's favorite charities were Paralyzed Veterans of America and Disabled American Veterans.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Muscatine Dialysis Clinic for the gen-uine caring they provided to Bob.
Bob was born April 20, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Monroe Hosea and Aletha Sawyer Lary. He was raised in Central City, was a graduate of Central City High School class of 1952 and he attended college at Upper Iowa University.
He was a three-year U.S. Army veteran having served two years in France.
Bob married Irene Waterhouse on Sept. 30, 1962, in Central City.
He was a professional drummer for several years. He had worked as a salesman and he retired after 25 years from Monsanto, where he was known to many as "Uncle Bob."
As a longtime member of First Baptist Church, he sang with the church choir, served as a church trustee and assisted with Sunday school. Bob was known as a man of great and strong Christian faith.
Bob loved music and had excellent timing and near perfect pitch and was a self-taught musician. He was a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Iowa State Cyclones and Green Bay Packers. His hobbies included feeding and watching the birds, listening to jazz music and he had a lifelong interest in cars.
Bob was a very friendly and outgoing man who made friends easily.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Irene Lary of Muscatine; three sons, Timothy and wife Gina of Dubuque, Christopher and wife Joy of Muscatine and Andrew and wife Makenna of North Liberty; seven grandchildren, Adam, Abby, Joshua, Carson, Jayden, Beck and Eli; four great-grandsons; one niece, Lea Ann Binder and her family of Fort Madison; and special family friends, Jerry and Kim Smith of Milwaukee, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Charmaine Toom.
