Robert D. Kummer, 93, of Marion, died Monday, April 13, 2015, at home. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Monday, April 20, at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids by the Rev. Steve Knudson. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion.
Survivors include his children, David (Helen) Kummer of Los Angeles, Calif., and Charlotte (Rex) Radermacher of Minnetonka, Minn.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Kummer; and two sisters, Maxine (Bob) Foltz and Norma Jean Collett.
Robert was born Jan. 16, 1922, the son of Samuel and Clarissa (Merritt) Kummer in Bluffton, Ind. He graduated from Augusta College in Moline, Ill. Robert served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. On Aug. 4, 1943, he married Anita Kahler in Moline, Ill. She died Oct. 31, 2005.
