ROBERT JONES
Cedar Rapids
Robert L. "Bob" Jones, 79, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marion, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha after a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Bible Church in Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Bryan Regier will officiate. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; four daughters, Leigh (John) Tigan of Marion, Stephanie (Scott) Thomson of Cresco, Bobbie (Chuck) Lampe of Cedar Rapids and Jenny (Steve) Kwan of Austin, Texas; and one son, Mark Griffith of Chicago. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his sister-in-law, Sheila (Jim) Seigel and family.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeannine; and a daughter, Denise Jones Neumann.
Bob was born May 11, 1934, in Davis County, the son of Minor and Donna Maries Jones. He married Jeannine Murray on Sept. 1, 1956, in Marion. She passed away in 1994. He later married Barbara L. (Hoppe) Griffith on June 11, 2004, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
Bob worked at Cryovac for over 40 years, retiring in 1993 as a maintenance supervisor. He attended Faith Bible Church.
Bob was a great story-teller as well as an attentive listener. He enjoyed time spent with his beloved family, especially his grandchildren. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Bob always said, "I can stand anything but pain and criticism," and he had to endure very little of the former and none of the latter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Hospice House of Mercy in Bob's name.
