Robert R. Hutchinson, 88, of Manchester, passed away at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids on Saturday, June 4, 2016.
He was born June 19, 1927, in Delaware County, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Elsie (Robinson) Hutchinson. Robert was raised in the area and attended school locally. He served honorably in two tours of duty for the U.S. Navy, one during World War II.
On March 31, 1951, Robert was united in marriage to Mary Leona Ammeter at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Three children were blessed to this union. He was employed in Cedar Rapids as a welder for Allis Chalmer and Harnischfeger for over 40 years until his retirement.
Robert enjoyed being with his family, ice fishing, shopping for deals, going to the meal site and traveling.
Survivors include his three children, Greg (Michelle Tegeler) Hutchinson of Cedar Rapids, Elana Shope of Boca Raton, Fla., and Lori (Tim) Reilly of Manchester; 11 grandchidren; and nine great-grandchildren plus two on the way.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary, on March 8, 2015; seven siblings, Della Lentner, Harold Hutchinson, Leo Hutchinson, Irene Cornwell, James Hutchinson, Betty Fierstine and Richard Hutchinson; and a son-in-law, John "Clint" Shope.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be designated to the Manchester Meal Site or UnityPoint Hospice in Cedar Rapids.
