The Rev. Canon Robert E. Holzhammer, 92, passed peacefully Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Oaknoll Retirement Residence. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 11, at Trinity Episcopal Church,
Iowa City. The family welcomes friends to a time of fellowship and celebra-tion of Father Bob's life at the Kinnick Stadium Press Box from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 11.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Trinity Episcopal Church or the University of Iowa Foundation.
Father Bob was rector of Trinity Episcopal Church in Iowa City from 1962 to 1990 and was well-known as the "Voice of the Hawkeyes" for Hawkeye football and basketball games from 1974 to 1999.
Father Bob is survived by his son, David (Jean) Holzhammer of Iowa City; his daughter, Mary "Tina" (John) Strauss of Deerfield, Ill.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Edward; and his wife, Meredith.
