Robert "Bob" Henry Heathman, 76, of Cedar Rapids, passed away after a long illness on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Military honors will be conducted at 4 p.m. A prayer vigil will be held at 6 p.m., conducted by Pastor Pat Fish. Entombment: Linwood Mausoleum at a later date.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, JoAnn; children, Mark (Janice) Heathman of Swisher, Roger Heathman of Cedar Rapids and Robert (Donetta) Heathman of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Lindsy (fiance, Justin), Cody (Amy), Zachary and Jordan; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Colton; siblings, Elsie Boyles of Arkansas, Glenn Warren Heathman of Cedar Rapids, Edward (Barb) Heathman of Ryan and Terry Heathman; sister-in-law, Eleanor Heathman of Toddville; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Bob was born March 22, 1940, in Iowa City, Iowa, son of Oral Glenn and Leola (Pruitt) Heathman, and was raised by Glenn and Ina Heathman. He served in the Army from 1959 to 1962. After the military, Bob worked at FMC. On March 10, 1963, in Williamsburg, Iowa, Bob and JoAnn Teggatz were united in marriage. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 299. Bob loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandkids.
