Robert Harold “Bob” Cieslek age 88 of Marion, IA passed away March 12, 2025.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm, Sat March 22, 2025, at Hope United Church of Christ, 150 9th Ave Hiawatha, IA. A live stream will be available at https://www.facebook.com/hopeucchiawatha. A celebration of his life from 2-6pm with refreshments and fellowship will be held following the service at the American Legion, 252 Broadway St Springville, IA.
Bob was born October 8, 1936, on a farm in Wisconsin to John and Martha (Kujala) Cieslek. Bob was united in marriage to Faye Spindler June 24, 1961. Bob served honorably in the United States Army and later was a Rural Mail Carrier for the US Postal Service retiring in 2002.
Before and after retirement Bob enjoyed, woodworking, fishing, hunting, making countless gallons of sauerkraut, tending garden, collecting toy tractors, crafting the perfect Old Fashioned or Grasshopper, attending Flea Markets with Faye, doing whatever she wanted and especially spending time with family.
Bob is survived by his wife Faye of 63 years, daughter Lana (Jim) Strother, their children Matthew (Heather) Strother and Sara (Justin) Ropp, daughter Rhonda (Justin) Kaczinski, their children Hannah (Zach) Guinn and Evan Kaczinski. Great grandchildren, Ellie, Cason, Carter, Lena, Georgie, Valerie and one more on the way. Sisters Dorothy Zawadski and Sue (Gary) McHugh. Sisters and brothers in law, Judy Cieslek, Dawn and Roger Johnson, Dixie and Kermit Gebelein and many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Martha Cieslek, in laws Carl and Helen Spindler, brothers John, Phil, Jerome and James. Sister Irene Ryll and her husband Randall. Brothers and sister-in-Law, Ed Zawadzki, Kenneth and Betty Spindler.
Memorial donations in Bob’s honor may be made to Hope United Church of Christ.
