Robert G. Bumsted, 97, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022, at Terrace Glen Villages. A private family funeral service will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids.
He was born on May 1, 1925, to Edward and Ada (Kuns) Bumsted in Marshalltown, Iowa. Robert was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Willson on July 26, 1950, in Des Moines, Iowa. They moved to Cedar Rapids in 1960. He retired from Rockwell Collins in 1988. He enjoyed pheasant hunting, fishing, camping, casino trips, family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Dian (Kevin) Finn of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Dennis (Beverly) Bumsted of Marion, Iowa; granddaughters, Kristin Finn and Kimberly Bumsted; great-grandchildren, Kinleigh Bumsted and Murphy Taylor; and close friend, Barbara Schnipkoweit.
He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife, Barbara Bumsted.
Memorials may be directed to the family for a donation to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
