Robert Eugene Miller died Nov. 24, 2022, at Compass Memorial Hospital after declining health. Robert (Bob) was born April 29, 1933, at Green Valley, near North English, Iowa, the son of Conard and Edna (Churchill) Miller. He graduated from North English High School in 1952 and served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. After his service, he was employed by Kaser Construction Co. and farmed for many years.
Robert was united in marriage to Mary Ann (Wehr) and they had three children, Janet (Bruce) Palmer, Ralph (Anna) Miller and Dan (Barbara) Miller. They were later divorced.
On Nov. 26, 1975, Bob married Anna Kathryn Cerhan Thurman and became stepfather to Barbara Thurman, Steven (Cindy) Thurman, Robert (Debra) Thurman, Edward (Lori) Thurman, Larry (Denise) Thurman and Lisa (Stephen) Fyfe.
Bob and Kay lived at the farm near North English for many years and are members of St. Joseph Catholic Church. They have been residents of Highland Ridge Care Center, Williamsburg, since 2020.
Over the years he enjoyed traveling, crafting numerous woodworking projects for his family and friends, taking many bus trips with Kay to Branson, Mo., playing cards, doing jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Kay; sister, Betty (Jim) Trail of Tomball, Texas; sister-in-law, Beverly Miller of Williamsburg; two children, five stepchildren, daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Miller; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard; daughter, Janet; stepson, Steven; grandchild, Lewis Palmer; and stepgrandchild, Christina Thurman.
Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in North English. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, from 9 a.m. until service time, at the church. Powell Funeral Home in North English is caring for Robert and his family. Memorials may be directed to the family.
