Robert E. Dye, 73, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022, following a long illness, at Silver Oaks Nursing Home in Marion. In agreement with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Robert's life is being planned for a later date. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
Robert was born on Oct. 17, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Marion Foster and Marian Elizabeth (Burrows) Dye. He was a 1968 graduate of Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids. Robert was united in marriage to Barbara Lynn Nordland on Nov. 14, 1970, in Marion. He worked in the food industry for many years in Cedar Rapids. Robert was an avid fisherman who loved to go all the time, even though he didn't catch many fish. He loved driving his car, going on car rides. He especially loved spending time with his family. Robert will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Robert is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Dye of Marion; daughter, Tami (Jim) Ginther of Marion; two grandchildren, Kira and Carter Ginther, both of Marion; sister, Kathy (Jim) Robinson of Denver, Colo.; and niece, Annie Robinson of Denver.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marian Clearwaters; stepfather, Ivan Clearwaters; father, Marion Dye; and brother, Steve Dye.
