Robert "Bob" Dee Davis, 77, of Traer, passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015, at Cedar Valley Hospice in Waterloo. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thurs-day, Nov. 12, at United Methodist Church in Traer, with Pastor Jim Dotson officiating. Interment will follow at Buckingham Cemetery in Traer. Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Traer.
Robert was born March 16, 1938, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Victor and Frances (Hite) Davis. He graduated from Traer High School in 1956 and attended Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo. Robert served his country in the U.S. Army. On Dec. 12, 1959, he was united in marriage to Donna Nelsen. Bob was a longtime employee and retired from John Deere in Waterloo.
He was a member of the Traer Country Club and former member of the Traer City Council. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing pool and cards.
He loved working on and taking his 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible to car shows. Bob and Donna wintered in Okeechobee, Fla.
Bob's greatest joy was spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's sporting events.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Donna of Traer; two daughters, Lorie (Ed) Dolan of Waterloo and Chris Gifford (Jeff Miller) of Center Point; four grandchildren, Katie Garrett, Connor, Gus and Grayson Gifford; one sister, Jean (Gary) Kruse of Traer; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a son, Jay Dee, in infancy.
