ROBERT F. CURRENT Cedar Rapids Robert F. Current, 98, of Oak Park Heights, Minn., formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, Sept. 5, 2016, at Boutwell's Landing, Oak Park Heights. A memorial service is being planned for a later date, with inurnment in Mount Vernon Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting the family. Survivors include his daughters, Pamela Pletscher of Shoreview, Minn., and Cynthia Hotze (Ward) of Ramona, Calif.; grandchildren, Amy, Jennifer and Rob Pletscher, Jason Hotze (Tracy) and Katie Hotze; and great-grandchildren, Collin and Adison Hotze. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two brothers. Robert Freeman Current was born Sept. 4, 1918, in Spencer, Iowa, the son of Harold and Edith (Wallace) Current. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Co E 133 Infantry Division during World War II and the invasion on Anzio Beach, Italy. On Oct. 6, 1945, he married Alma Van Fossen in Cedar Rapids. Robert worked at Collins Radio/Rockwell International for 25 years. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. He moved to Boutwell's Landing in Oak Park Heights, Minn., in April 2006. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
