Robert (Bob) Cook, 66, of Marion, passed away Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, after fighting a 20-year-battle with non-hodgkin's
lymphoma. Memorial service: noon Thursday, Aug. 7, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, before the service, at the funeral home. A private family inurnment will be held
at Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca (Becki); children, Trevor (Keri) Cook of Adrian, Mich., and Samantha (Mike) Langfald of Marion; five grandchildren, Kaylee, Kianna and Trace Cook and Bryker and Bruxen Langfald; a sister, MaDonna (Frank) Markle of Grimes; a sister-in-law, Ruth Cook of Rockford; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; and two brothers, Lyle and Merrill.
Bob was born Jan. 5, 1948, in Charles City, Iowa, the son of John H. and Esther L. (Fletcher) Cook. He grew up in Rockford and settled in
Marion in 1966. He married Becki Schmitz on June 6, 1970, in Marion. Bob served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a squad leader in the 199th Light Infantry Brigade.
Bob worked for Linn Co-op as an office manager. He later traveled Eastern Iowa and Missouri selling agricultural equipment and worked for Ar-Jay Building Products as a controller, until his retirement.
Bob will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy or The Salvation Army.
