Robert Charles Vacek, 83, of Wyoming, Iowa, passed away peacefully at the Clarence Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025 at the Calkins Barn in Wyoming from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 p.m. at the same location. Burial will take place at a later date at the Wyoming Cemetery. Dawson Funeral Services of Wyoming is caring for the family during this time.
Bob was born on April 15, 1941, and married Janet Lee Hurt, on July 25, 1959. Bob worked for 41 years at Anamosa Silos, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. In his free time, Bob enjoyed attending car shows, sharing stories and laughter with his coffee club friends, cruising around town in his golf cart, spending time at Racks for happy hour and stopping to visit with friends at the Buchholtz shop. Above all, his greatest joy was his family. He was a proud and devoted grandfather and great-grandfather who rarely missed a chance to attend their events and cheer them on.
Bob is survived by his children: Rodney Vacek of Wyoming, Rhonda (Mark) Bickford of Anamosa, and Renee (Gary) Leonard of Center Junction; grandchildren: Shelby (Derek) Denniston, Ryan (Alyssa) Leonard, and Dylan (April) Bickford; great-grandchildren: Kyson, Teagyn, and Naxton Denniston, Lucy and Layton Leonard, and Addilynn and Damon Bickford. He is also survived by his sister, Pat Lyon of Wyoming; a niece and nephew; sisters-in-law: Joyce (Joe) Weaver, Judy (Gary) Midthun, and Charles (Georgine) Hurt; and his special friend, Mary Curtin and her family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet, and his brother-in-law, Ken Lyon.
