Robert Charles Haage, 90, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021, at Cottage Grove Place in Cedar Rapids. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2022, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, conducted by the Rev. Douglas Loecke. The family will be available to greet friends and family one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery in Norway, Iowa. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a face mask and practice social distancing. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
Robert was born on Nov. 26, 1931, in Norway, Iowa, to Arthur and Dolores Haage. He graduated from Norway High School in 1949. Robert served honorably in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to the former Pauline Jaeger on May 10, 1960, at Immaculate Conception Church in Cedar Rapids. Robert was employed at Iowa Manufacturing Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1991. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 788, the Marion American Legion Post 298, Catholic Order of Foresters, Court 1360 and St. Matthew's Catholic Church.
Robert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Pauline Haage of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Catherine Haage of Cedar Rapids; sister, Mary Darrow of Cedar Rapids; brother, Richard (Beth) Haage of Norway; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Ronald Haage.
Robert's family would like to extend a special thank-you to Mercy Hospice, the staff at Cottage Grove Place, and Dr. Ann Soenen and staff for the special care they provided for Robert.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Robert's memory may be directed to either Mercy Hospice or St. Matthew's Catholic Parish.
