Robert C. Davison, 97, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, at Cottage Grove Place in Cedar Rapids.
There will be a private family service with military honors at a later time. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Bob was born May 2, 1924, in Centerville, Iowa, to William and Beatrice (Clark) Davison. He graduated from Centerville High School and received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a medic in the European theater. Bob then united in marriage to Roberta (Bert) Harter on Feb. 8, 1948, in Centerville, Iowa. Robert was a teacher and principal in the Cedar Rapids Community School District from 1949-1989. Bob enjoyed playing bridge and golf, was a Big Band music lover and enjoyed going to shows of all kinds. He was also an avid Hawkeyes fan and a long-time supporter of the Linn County Trails. He enjoyed traveling and was especially proud of his participation on the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in 2015. Above all, he enjoyed time spent with his family and friends of which he had many.
Survivors include his son, Randy (Sally) Davison of Cedar Rapids; daughter-in-law, Jean Davison of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Tiffany Davison (Dusty Bradley), Bradley (Amanda) Davison, Patricia Davison (Brian Ulch) and Christina (Ed) Meierotto of North Liberty; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Hannah Davison and Alice and Kade Meierotto.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Roberta; and a son, Richard Davison.
Memorials will be directed to Eastern Iowa Honor Flight or can be made at eihonorflight.org/category/donations.
