Robert C. Bunge, 86, of Lowden, passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, in the same home that he was born. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel Redhage officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 21, also at Trinity, from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
Bob was born Oct. 11, 1934, in Lowden to Otto and Dorothea Licht Bunge. He married Elaine Burkey on July 30, 1966, in Salem, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine; son, Jeff (Jodi) of Dubuque; daughters, Jean (Randy) Manning of Maquoketa and Jolene Hancock of Oglesby, Ill.; grandchildren. Mallory, Hailey and Hunter Manning and Tony Hancock; and great-granddaughter, Jayce Merkle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl, Howard and Harold; and sister, Dorothy Haensel.
Bob was a school bus driver for over 15 years for both the Clarence–Lowden and North Cedar school districts. He also mowed the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery along with two township cemeteries for over 20 years. Bob was a past member of the Trinity Men's and Mixed Choirs and was a big Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. He loved his family (especially spoiling the grandkids), and the most important things to him in life were faith, family, and farming.
