ROBERT BURK
Cedar Rapids
Robert Frank "Bob" Burk passed away quietly and in peace Jan. 30, 2015, in Cedar Rapids.
Born Feb. 24, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, he graduated from Roosevelt High School and proudly served in the Army assigned to the office of strategic services in World War II. After serving again in the Korean conflict, he graduated from Coe College and worked for Collins Radio from 1959 until his retirement in 1982.
An avid golfer possessed of a lightning-quick wit, he was fiercely proud to call Cedar Rapids and Collins his home. Bob was married to Dorothy in 1953 and divorced in 1978. He was fortunate again to find and marry Carolyn Duffy in 2003, and he cherished her love and kindness through his final hour.
Bob is survived by wife, Carolyn; brother, LeRoy; son, Steven Burk (Kathy) of DeLand, Fla.; daughter, Susan Presha (Bernard) of Orlando, Fla.; grand-children, Michael, Erin, Kyle, Nicholas (predeceased) and Jackson; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorial services will be at a later date.
