Robert (Bob) Harold Schulte, 83, of rural Norway, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Norway, with the Rev. Craig Steimel officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fairfax, with full military honors. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Michael's Parish Center. Visitation will continue one hour before the service Friday.
Memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous, Hospice of Mercy, Cedar Rapids, or to the charity of your choice in Bob's memory.

Bob, son of Henry A. and Helen (Schroeder) Schulte, was born Dec. 14, 1932. Bob served as an M.P. in the Army. Bob farmed his whole life in Norway, growing crops and raising cattle. He married Marlene O'Brien on Aug. 28, 1962, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon. Bob was a member of VFW post number 788 of Cedar Rapids, Fairfax American Legion Post 572 and a member of Catholic Order of Foresters. One of Bob's most enjoyable days was taking the Honor Flight in April 2013. Bob was a man of farming, faith and family.
Bob is survived by his wife, Marlene; son, Michael (Barb) Schulte; daughter, Jan (Scott) Boddicker; and son, Jim (Jennifer) Schulte; grandchildren, Evan Boddicker (fiancee Deanna Knustrom), Brooke Boddicker, Zach Boddicker, Jaycee Schulte, Autumn Schulte, Anthony Schulte and Dylan Schulte; stepgrandchildren, Nick Johnson and Morgan Johnson; stepgreat-grandchildren, Abel Johnson and Frank Johnson; brothers, Richard (Shirley) Schulte, Tom (June) Schulte; sister, Kathie (Leon) Arp; and sisters-in-law, Carol (Jim) Steinbrech and Pat Lacina.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Vincent and Alma O'Brien; brother-in-law, Jim O'Brien; and sister-in-law, Leanna Schulte.
