Robert "Bob" S. Millhouse Jr., 68, of Batavia, IA passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025, at the Jefferson County Health Care Center. A graveside service will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the Batavia Cemetery in Batavia, IA with Pastor Danny Cary officiating. A visitation will be held at the Cranston Family Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA on Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 at which time a procession will form to head to the cemetery. Memorial contributions in Bob's honor may be directed to the family. Friends may leave online condolences at www.cranstonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
Bob Millhouse Jr. was born in Germany on May 19, 1956, he was a son to the late Robert and Shirley Mackon Millhouse. In his early life Bob’s family moved frequently, he completed his 8th grade in Fairfield and went on to Job Corp for Auto Mechanics in South Dakota where he eventually obtained his GED. He entered the workforce early and dedicated many years of hard work at Iowa Malleable in Fairfield until its closure. He then transitioned to Falco and Louden Machine, and later, he spent two decades as a welder at John Deere Ottumwa Works, until his well-deserved retirement.
Bob's life outside work was marked by his involvement with his beloved grandchildren, passing on his knowledge and joy. His hands were rarely idle, as he was both a skilled woodworker and a fixer of all things. The great outdoors brought him immense pleasure; he was an enthusiast of boating, fishing, and camping, embracing the beauty of nature at every opportunity.
His laughter and stories around the campfire will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by friends and family. Robert's unwavering work ethic, his love for life, and the warmth of his company left a lasting impression that will be treasured forever.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, Deb, Lester, and Randy, as well as a son-in-law, William Kahl.
Left to share his story are his loving wife, Dorothy “Dot” Millhouse of Batavia, IA; four children, Greg (Amy) Smith of Cedar Rapids, IA, Justin (Miranda) Millhouse of Batavia, IA, Jennifer Millhouse (Josh Dumont) of Ollie, IA and Megan Kahl of Batavia, IA; eleven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brandon, Courtney, Alexis, Lilyanna, Evan, Madelyn, Addison, Braiden, Isabelle, and Kristiana; five siblings, Ron, Karen, Kevin, Doug, and Linda, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
