Robert Lee Rummelhart was born Jan. 13, 1935, in Hills, the son of Leonard J. and Mary E. (Murray) Rummelhart. He graduated from Iowa City High School in 1954. Bob married the love of his life, Renita Joan Brandt, on May 29, 1956, at St. Wenceslaus Church in Iowa City, where they started their 62-year journey together. For over 30 years, Bob was employed at Moore Business Forms in Iowa City. In his retirement, he enjoyed driving for Gringer Feeds.
Bob was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus; Hills Fire Department, serving as chief; and Hills Town and Country Club. He played and coached fast-pitch softball, was a devoted scout leader and enjoyed camping with the family. He especially loved cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs.
Many things brought joy to Bob's life, but nothing was more important to him than his family. Bob loved being a dad and grandpa and he never missed an event with his children and grandchildren. He especially loved hunting and fishing with his sons, cousins and friends. In retirement, Bob and Renita enjoyed living in South Texas, escaping the cold Iowa winters.
Bob is survived by his wife, Renita; his children, Cindy Rummelhart-Lavely, Doug Rummelhart (Mary) and Brian Rummelhart (Lisa); his seven grandchildren, Jenny Brand (Roger), Jarrod Lavely, Ashley Fink (Ryan), Mike Rummelhart, John Rummelhart, Jacob Rummelhart and Kelly Rummelhart (Houston Harreld); his four great-grandchildren, Josh, Alli, Carissa and Mason; and his two sisters, Ruth Ann Lathrop and Barbara Mahanna (Don).
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Ken Lathrop.
