ROBERT ’BOB’ LEWIS RUBLE

Robert "Bob" Lewis Ruble, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, May 23, 2021, at Hiawatha Care Center. Services: 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church by the Rev. Ivan Nienhaus. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home. Those not attending the rosary may visit with the family from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Bob is survived by three children, Roger (Linda) Ruble of Milford, Susan (Jesse) Rosenquist of Willows, Calif., and Kevin Ruble of Newhall; three grandchildren, Kyle (Amanda) Ruble, Logan (Holly) Ruble and Ryan Ruble; and three great-grandchildren, Jace, Sadie and Anna.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; infant daughter, Kay Ellen; parents; sister, Ruth Sproston; and stepmother, Melva Ruble.
Bob was born Jan. 5, 1927, in Mount Vernon the son of Douglas and Emma Brokel Ruble. He attended Forest Edge Country School and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1945. On June 2, 1954, he married Marilyn Pavelka at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Robert worked as a milkman at Dows Dairy for 32 years until 1983. He also worked part time at the Cedar Rapids Gazette, at Nash Finch as a messenger and at Mount Vernon Auto Auction.
Bob was very active at St. Patrick Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Layman's Club and an Extraordinary Minister for many years. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, playing pinochle, hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting. Bob loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Instead of flowers, memorial may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church or Hospice of Mercy.
