Robert Francis Phillips was born June 2, 1968 in Norfolk, Virginia. He was the oldest of two children born to Gary and Joanne (Kriegel) Phillips. Bob was raised in Marshalltown where he attended school at Marshalltown High School graduating with the Class of 1986. After school, Bob enlisted in the United States Army where he served until 1994 when he entered the Iowa Army National Guard until 1998 when he was honorably discharged from service.
After the service, Bob called Cedar Rapids his new home but always referred to Marshalltown as his true home. He was united in marriage to Shannon Phillips and from this union three children, Ashley, Andi and Adam, were born. Bob was big into computers. He put his knowledge to the test as he worked for Shasta QA as a software programmer for many years. Outside of the office, Bob loved being outdoors. He spent many days fishing and camping. He even dabbled in computer games in his free time but what he enjoyed most of all was spending time with his family.
Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his children, Andi Phillips and Adam Phillips; grandchildren, Jayden Phillips, Madalynn Phillips and Candace Phillips, Conner Phillips and Leah Phillips; his brother, Larry (Shannon) Phillips; alongside nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Ashley Phillips; his parents Gary and Joanne Phillips and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
