Robert "Bob" Mefferd, 77, of Marion, Iowa, passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion. Burial at a later date.

Bob was born Feb. 4, 1941, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Pauline (Ralston) Mefferd. He graduated from Marion High School and continued his education in mechanical school. In 1963, Bob married his young bride of 55 years, Mary Gruber. He owned and operated Mefferd's Auto Service in Cedar Rapids. Bob had a love for cars; he especially loved working on old cars. He also enjoyed remote control airplanes and playing pool.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Mary Mefferd of Marion; daughter, Robin Jurgens of Marion; sons, Michael Mefferd of Mount Vernon, Iowa, William (Therese) Mefferd of Bertram, Iowa and Scott (Chrissy) Mefferd of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Richard, Laura, Cody, Cameron, Cayden, Brennen (Malary), Mallory (Dan) and Will; two great-grandchildren, Aspen and Oaklyn; sisters, Ann Thie, Judy (Hubert) Bakken and Linda McKnight; brothers-in-law, Bill (Sharon) Gruber and Tom (Ellen) Gruber; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Pauline Mefferd; brother, Jim Fox; and brothers-in-law, John Gruber and Irvin Thie.
