Robert “Bob” Jacob Duff, 79, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024. The family will greet friends from 4 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service is assisting the family.
Bob was born on May 4, 1945, in Volga, Iowa, the son of Robert “Jim” and Lillian (Christen) Duff. He grew up in Volga and went on to serve honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On August 10, 1968, Bob was united in marriage to Iris Williamson in Iowa City, Iowa. He earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Mount Mercy. Bob worked at the Anamosa Penitentiary and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. He later had a 23-year career as a FedEx courier, retiring in 2006.
Bob received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior on April 7, 1978, through Isaiah 53:6.
Bob could tell the longest, funniest story or joke. He was the hero of most of them. He started many projects and finished a few. Bob loved bragging about his grandkids and greats.
Bob is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Iris Duff; three children, Sarah (Brett) Hansel, Bridgit (Roy) Brandt, and Jared Duff (Sarah Baker); six grandchildren, Zoe and David Hansel, Aaron (Lizzy) Brandt, Lily Brandt (Andre Spearman Sr.), and Corbin and Cameron Brandt; two great-grandchildren, Andre Spearman Jr. and Oliver Brandt, and another great-grandson on the way; sister, Sondra Heying; five brothers, Jim (Neala) Duff, Mac (Kathy) Duff, George (Ann) Duff, Marv (Julie) Duff, and Tom Duff; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, John Heying.
