Bob grew up in Red Oak, Iowa, attending K-12 grade, graduating in 1965. He then attended college at Peru State University in Peru, Neb. He received his master's degree in teaching from the University of Maryville in Maryville, Mo.
In March of 1972 he met the love of his life, Linda Goreham. They married on Dec. 2, 1972, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll, Iowa.
Bob taught social studies and physical education, along with coaching numerous sports throughout the years. He started teaching at Holy Spirit in Caroll, Iowa, then moved to Missouri where he taught at Fillmore High School where he worked on his master's degree. He moved on to teach at St. Alberts in Council Bluffs, Iowa; then to Treynor Highschool in Treynor, Iowa, where he was an assistant coach for the football team, helping them win their first state championship.
Bob and Linda moved to Solon, Iowa, in 1980 where they raised their two sons, Rob and Ryan. Bob taught physical education, and was the coach for the Solon baseball team, assistant coach for the Solon football, wrestling and track teams. Bob taught and coached at Solon High School for 14 years. He was a substitute teacher for many years in Iowa City and surrounding areas.
Bob and Linda started Barnboard Creations in 1992, giving Bob the title of Barnboard Bob. Bob, Rob and Ryan spent many hours tearing down barns, which Bob then used to create anything and everything he could think of from birdhouse to cabinets.

The most important hobby was spending time with his grandchildren: Madison, Garrett, Michael and Levi.
